Board Certified

 Dr. Saponaro is a Board Certified Internist. But by what board and what does this mean?

• After completing the third year of his Internal Medicine Residency in 1989 at The Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, he became board eligible. Then, after passing the ABIM's certifying exam, he became Board Certified in Internal Medicine. (The formal title the ABIM uses is DABIM for Diplomat American Board of Internal Medicine.) Internists have to retake the boards every decade. He last took the exam in August 2002 and will be considered certified by the ABIM (American Board of Internal Medicine) through 2012. The ABIM maintains a list of certified Internists on their website.
• Dr. Saponaro does Drug Studies and holds the titles CCRC for Certified Clinical Research Coordinator and CCRI for Certified Clinical Research Investigator by the ACRP (Association of Clinical Research Professionals).
• From SoCRA (Society of Clinical Research Associates), he holds the title CCRP for Certified Clinical Research Professional.
