DSI Newsletters, Issue 27:
The Cholesterol Pie

  • Total Cholesterol = HDL + LDL + TG / 5
  • Good or "Healthy" High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol
  • Bad or "Lousy" Low Density Lipoprotein cholesterol
  • Triglycerides, another type of "Bad" cholesterol
  • Non-HDL cholesterol = TC – HDL
  • Risk Factor Ratio = TC / HDL
Your total cholesterol level is made up of the sum of its three parts (lipoproteins):
  • HDL-C (good cholesterol)
  • LDL-C (bad cholesterol)
  • Triglyceride-C (bad cholesterol)

Goals
TC (Total Cholesterol) less than 150
  HDL cholesterol more than 40
TG (triglycerides) cholesterol less than 150

When your RFR (Risk Factor Ratio) is less than four, cholesterol is leaving your arterial wall and cleaning the arteries (reversing atherosclerosis).
